Compassionate Volunteers Needed for No One Dies Alone Program
Original Release Date: May 29, 2014KEARNEY - The No One Dies Alone program at Good Samaritan Hospital is looking for volunteers to serve as compassionate companions to patients in their last hours of life.
Under the supervision of nursing staff, volunteers sit with patients, perhaps holding their hands, reading to them and assisting in comfort measures. Volunteers will receive a five-hour training and then be called when patients are nearing the end of their life and do not have family or friends who can be with them during the last hours.
The volunteer training is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, June 26 at Good Samaritan Hospital in the second floor conference center. Lunch will be provided. Training is free, but please register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or call 865-7102 and leave a message indicating you'd like to register for No One Dies Alone and include name, phone number and mailing address.
