From designing a customized workout plan to providing ongoing motivation and support, the Wellness/Fitness Center is dedicated to helping you achieve your specific fitness goals.

Our Fitness Specialists hold degrees in Exercise Science and also are required to carry certification by the American College of Sports Medicine, National Academy of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association or the ACF.

Dan Kennedy, CSCS
Fitness Coordinator

Dan earned a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science/Sports Nutrition from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  During his time at UNK, he spent two years in their Athletic Training Room where he received hands-on experience with nearly all of the University's Sports Programs.

In August of 2005, Dan started at the Wellness/Fitness Center as an intern and was hired as a Fitness Specialist in October.  Over the next few years, Dan helped over 150 people change their lives in a healthy way.  Dan was a featured trainer on NTV's "Fit for TV" in which he helped a participant lose 54.4 pounds in three months.  Many members will share their success stories after working with Dan.

In the summer of 2007, Dan worked for 7 Flags Fitness and Racquet Club where he made an immediate impact and was one of the top-producing trainers and was classified as a Master Trainer.  After weighing a career decision with 7 Flags, he followed his heart back into the Medical Fitness field where he assumed the Fitness Coordinator position in November of 2007.  Since being back, he has spread his "no excuses" philosophy and teamed that with intensive 1-on-1 personal training that has produced incredible results.  He believes that people need more than a want to change, but a will.

Amber Morris
Fitness Specialist

Amber earned an Associates of Science degree from McCook Community College, where she played for the Indians basketball team.  While at MCC, she was awarded Distinguished Academic All-American and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa.  She then relocated to the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where she earned a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science Management in 2009.

Amber joined the Fitness Team first as an intern in 2008 and then was hired on as a Fitness Specialist in 2009.
