What to Bring

Please bring your own toiletries and select personal items with you when you are admitted. The hospital can also provide these at a small charge.

Please bring:

            • personal toiletry items (toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, hand lotion, facial tissue, lip balm, etc.)

            • pajamas or nightgown (a hospital gown will be provided)

            • robe and slippers

            • up to $10 cash for incidental gift shop or newspaper purchases

Other important items to bring:

 • An accurate list of all medications you are taking, reason for taking, dosing schedule and name of pharmacy where medication is filled. Keep this record with you at all times. If there isn't time to make a list, you may bring your medications in their original containers. You will be asked to have a family member take your medications home directly after being reviewed by a physician or nurse. In some instances you may be specifically asked to bring your inhaler, medications for diabetes management, CPAP machine, etc.

            • a list of any allergies and detailed information about previous reactions

            • insurance card(s)

            • copy of your Advance Directive

            • telephone calling card for long-distance calls

            • eyeglasses or contacts*

            • dentures, hearing aids, prosthetic devices, glucose meter*

* Glasses, contact lenses, dentures, hearing aids and prosthetic devices must be kept in their cases in a secure place when not in use. If you do not have a case for your dentures, please ask your nurse to provide one. Dentures wrapped in a tissue or paper towel and left on meal trays can easily be discarded by accident. We can not be responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.

Please do not bring any of the following with you to the hospital:

            • credit cards and cash over $10

            • valuables and jewelry

            • electrical items*

* If you do bring an electrical item, it must be safety checked by a member of our Clinical Engineering staff before it can be used. Your nurse can contact Clinical Engineering.
