Cardiac rehabilitation provides education and monitored exercise therapy for heart patients.
Cardiac Rehabilitation is for you if:
-
you are at risk of having a heart attack.
-
you have had a heart attack or angina.
-
you have had a cardiac procedure such as heart surgery or balloon angioplasty.
-
you have had other heart problems.
Why is Cardiac Rehab important?
Heart attacks fall under the category of cardiovascular disease, which contributes to nearly 1.5 million deaths in the U.S. annually. In a one year time period 650,000 people will experience their first heart attack and 450,000 more will have a recurrent attack. Changes in lifestyle habits may prevent or decrease the severity of a reoccurrence. After cardiac rehab most patients resume their normal activities of work and leisure and, because of improved lifestyle, many patients feel better and can do more than before their cardiac event.
