Radiation Oncologist: A physician who has specific training in radiation therapy. They prescribe the type and amount of treatment that best suits your needs. Radiation oncologists collaborate with doctors and healthcare professionals when planning your treatment
Medical Physicist: An expert who makes sure that the equipment is working properly and ensures that the machine delivers the right dose of radiation. The physicist also works closely with the doctor in planning your treatment.
Dosimetrist: A specialist who works with a doctor and physicist to create the treatment plan. The dosimetrist calculates the radiation dose delivered to the tumor and the surrounding normal tissue. The dosimetrist also helps carry out your treatment plan by calculating the number of treatments and how long each treatment should last.
Radiation Therapist: A professional who positions the patient each day for treatments and operates the equipment that delivers the radiation.
Oncology Nurse: Care givers who provide nursing care, help coordinate your care, help the patient learn about treatment and help manage side effects.
Medical Secretary: Staff who deals with medical and insurance information and schedules appointments.
