Good Samaritan Hospital Radiation Oncology has provided comfort and care to cancer patients and their families since 1982, when we established a newly constructed Cancer Treatment Center. We made several milestone renovations to the Cancer Center in 1994. In 2004, a highly comprehensive and modern Cancer Treatment Center was constructed including all-new treatment equipment.
In 2007, the Cancer Center expanded once more, enabling space for a new Varian Trilogy linear accelerator that provides Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), respiratory gating, and Stereotactic Radiosurgery/Radiotherapy (SRS/SRT). Radiation therapy (or radiotherapy) provides treatment for cancer and other diseases using ionizing radiation. This radiation can be delivered in different forms through external beam radiotherapy or internal radiotherapy.
For people threatened with cancer, one of the most productive recent advances in oncology treatment is the extraordinary precision made possible by Good Samaritan Hospital's state-of-the-art stereotactic radiosurgery system. This advanced technology allows surgeons to target the smallest possible lesions and spare the healthiest tissue, with treatment times that are shorter and more comfortable for patients. The right equipment in the right hands provide results you can believe in - and at Good Samaritan, that's what we strive for every day.
