Stork Smart Classes

At the Good Samaritan Hospital Family Birth Center, we feel the better prepared you are for your upcoming birth experience, the less anxious you’ll be during this special time. That’s stork smart!

Through the classes at Good Samaritan, you can gain the confidence that comes from knowing what to expect the moment you walk in our doors until well after you take your new baby home. Your birth experience should be as special as possible.

Childbirth Essentials
Mondays—6 week series » 7-9:30 pm
Good Samaritan Hospital (GSH), Conference Center

This in-depth course, taught by our certified childbirth educators, is specifically designed to totally prepare you and your partner for the entire childbirth experience. Cost $65.

Weeks 1-5 of this series: signs, symptoms and stages of labor; delivery process; pain management; coping techniques; caesarean birth; post-delivery recovery; general baby care and parenting

Week 6 of this series: New Dads Boot Camp

New Dads Boot Camp

Expectant dads…don’t know which end of the baby is up? Learn from some “veterans” at boot camp. By the time you’re discharged you’ll be prepared to handle everything from postpartum blues, to finances, to your in-laws. This class is free to participants of our childbirth classes or $10 for non-participants. ­

Childbirth Express
3rd Saturday of every other month » 9 am-4:30 pm » GSH, Conference Center            

Is your time limited? Are you a second time parent? This one-day labor preparation class includes information and practical skills regarding labor and delivery, coping techniques and caesareans. Cost $60. Lunch is on your own.

Sneak & Peek: Sibling Preparation Program

A new baby is exciting, but for big brother or sister this addition may cause some fearful moments. Our free class prepares older children for baby’s arrival making them feel included and special.

Steps to Better Breastfeeding for Expectant Mothers
4th Thursday (Nov. and Dec. classes meet the 3rd Thursday) » 6-8 pm » GSH, Conference Center

Prepare for a wonderful breastfeeding experience at our Steps to Better Breastfeeding class intended for expentant mothers in their second or third trimester and their partners. This class is taught by our certified lactation team with the goal of providing a relaxed, comfortable and fun atmosphere where questions are welcomed. You'll leave feeling better prepared to breastfeed and a solid knowledge of where to find help when needed.

Connections: Breastfeeding Mother’s Group
Every Wednesday* » 7-8 pm » GSH, West Tower Classrooms

Our FREE group meets in a relaxed open-house environment that nurtures new friendships, lends support and provides a place for postpartum breastfeeding Moms and their babies to make connections for life. Facilitated by our certified lactation consultant, this group will share hints, education and provide an opportunity to weigh your baby tracking his/her progress.
