How to Help

The dedicated staff and physicians of the Cancer Center are committed to caring for those who need our assistance.  Yet, we can't do it alone.  There are many ways that others can help us provide the services that we offer.

Making a Gift
General Donations

General donations can be made to the Cancer Center to help support the programs and research activities that we offer.  These gifts may also be made in honor or in memory of someone special.

Designated Donations
Gifts may also be designated for a specific program or service that we provide.  Some examples are:

  • Clinical Trials Program
  • Our Healing Garden
  • Tackle Cancer Patient Assistance Fund
  • Prevention and Early Detection programs such as prostate cancer screening clinics, colo-rectal screening, breast self-examination education, etc.
  • Family Risk Assessment Program/Cancer Genetics
  • Patient support groups, educational programs and cancer survivorship programs
  • Community education programs
  • Integrative therapies for cancer
  • Professional education programs
  • Medical oncology
  • Radiation oncology
  • Inpatient care
  • Breast health services
  • Cancer Registry
  • Palliative care services
  • Pain management programs
  • C.A.R.E. Fund (Assists with patients' needs)
  • Cancer Related Equipment Needs

The Good Samaritan Foundation manages all gifts to the Cancer Center.  Click here for more information about the Foundation and how to make a gift.

The Cancer Center appreciates the support of our Cancer Program.  These gifts assist us to provide quality services and care to those with cancer and to their families.

Donating Blood and Platelets:

Many of us know of patients with cancer or blood disorders that need to receive blood or platelet transfusions.  You can help by becoming a donor.

See the American Red Cross website at www.givelife2.org/donor/default.asp for more information about donating blood.  To make an appointment to donate blood you go to the Blood Services Center of the American Red Cross at 101 W. 31st St. in Kearney or contact them at 308-865-236-5353.  For more information, visit www.givelife.org or
call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543) to locate a site near you.

You can help - give the gift of life!

Volunteers:
Volunteers are very valuable to those in the Cancer Center.  You can help by greeting and helping patients visiting the Cancer.  To find out more about being a volunteer in the Cancer Center, please contact Volunteer Services at 308-865-7150 or go to:  www.gshs.org/default.cfm?id=272 .
