CCTA

What is Chest CT Angiography with Coronary CT Angiography?

Chest CT Angiography with Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA) is a non-invasive, diagnostic procedure using CT (computed tomography) to scan the chest and coronary arteries.  CCTA allows clear visualization of narrowed and clogged arteries that can cause heart attack and stroke.  CCTA is not for everyone.  Physician referral and patient completion of assessment form is required before the scan.

How does it work?

CT is an excellent diagnostic tool. In a CT scan, the x-ray beam moves in a circle around your body and sends the information to a computer.  This technique allows for rapid, detailed imaging and dimensional view of heart function on a computer screen.

Reasons for the procedure

CCTA can be a fast, accurate, non-invasive alternative to traditional invasive angiography for patients with low to intermediate likelihood of coronary artery disease.  For some patients with chest pain, CCTA can rule out the need for cardiac catheterization.

Where is it offered?

Chest CT angiography with CCTA is available through Diagnostic Imaging Services at good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

How do I schedule?

Please contact your physician for written referral.  For more information call the Good Samaritan Hospital Diagnostic Imaging Services at 308.865.7555.  Patients will be asked to complete an assessment form, which will be provided by your family physician.
